Steep terraced garden
Gooseberry Hill - August 2013

This was a very
steep garden with extensive engineered retaining walls required
to create usable and functional spaces. The rock batter along
the front of the building sandpad was removed and reused at the
front of the garden to really show off these beautiful large
rocks (some well over 1 ton in weight) that had mostly been
buried for years.
The client also
had a problematic pool area that looked badly dated with an out
of level fibreglass shell and no entertaining space around the
pool. We realigned pool fencing to include the existing deck
into the area along with extending the other end and creating a
better connection with the house by using glass fencing in some
areas. We also installed modern bullnosed pool capping and
poured permeable paving to resolve the ongoing drainage problems
around the pool.
